Year 5 Tolkien Workshop
Year 5 visited Cannock Library to take part in a Tolkien workshop to celebrate his close ties with Staffordshire. We learned all about Tolkien's life on Cannock Chase, where his regiment was based during World War 1, and how the settings in his books were influenced by the scenery around Great Haywood and the Shugborough estate.
We also enjoyed an art workshop, with a local artist, creating treasure fit for the hoard of the dragon Smaug!
The organisers were amazed at the insightful questions and creative artwork from Year 5 children.
Our work will be displayed in Cannock Library alongside the exhibition on Tolkien's life.
