Year 1

Year 1 team (ID 1126)

Welcome to Year 1 2024-25 - Please view our Meet the Teacher Presentation here

Our Year One teachers are Mrs Ible and Miss Howes and our teaching assistants are Mrs Mason and Mrs Wilkinson.

Our aim is to encourage independence and a love for learning! To ensure a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage we initially use the same teaching methods as Reception by having independent activities alongside focused, adult led tasks.

During the second half of the autumn term in Year 1, we encourage the children to become more independent in English and Maths whilst still ensuring support is given when needed.  We also enjoy a range of practical activities which develop thinking skills and problem solving.

Our themes across the year are designed to stimulate and excite the children so that they enjoy their learning and participate enthusiastically. We strive to provide a safe and secure environment in which every child is nurtured to achieve their own goals and targets.

We are freely available to chat and discuss concerns but also contactable via the following email addresses:

Mrs C.Ible: c.ible@st-lukes-cannock.staffs.sch.uk

Miss A. Howes: a.howes@st-lukes-cannock.staffs.sch.uk
