Welcome to Year 5.
A key part of year 5 is to encourage independence, both at home and in school, in preparation for KS3.
Our early residential visit to Whitemoor Lakes gives us an ideal opportunity to form strong relationships which will continue throughout the year.
Year 5 firmly believe that the best learning takes place when children are happy, safe and stimulated. We endeavour to teach whenever possible a practical and multi-sensory approach which is accessible to all. Peer support and guidance is also a vital attribute, that develops throughout the year.
We study an exciting curriculum in this academic year, from the world’s natural disasters to an indepth study of Africa and China. This will give us some wonderful historical and geographical opportunities to build on the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world.
Year 5 have been working extremely hard on their gymnastic skills this half term. Over a series of lessons, they have learnt how to perform forward & backward rolls, handstands, vaults and a variety of different jumps.
Inspired by our visit from Olympic Gymnast Kristian Thomas, they then worked in groups to choreograph their own floor routine - here is a collection of the finished result!
